Sharif Hikmat Nashashibi

Sharif Hikmat Nashashibi (born in Kuwait) to a Palestinian-Jordanian-Lebanese Muslim father and an Iraqi-Syrian Christian mother.[1] He is co-founder and chairman of the British based organization, Arab Media Watch.[2] He attended City University to study International Journalism and took interest in the way the media reported the Arab world. His work entails; writings and publications, interviews on television and radio and invitations to speak and debate at universities and colleges. Sharif has worked and trained with many organisations such as Dow Jones Newswires, Reuters, the UN Development Programme in Palestine, the Middle East Broadcasting Centre, and the Middle East Economic Survey in Cyprus.[1]

Awards

In 2008, Sharif Hikmat Nashashibi received a "Breakaway Award", awarded to promising new journalists, from the Next Century Foundation's International Council for Press and Broadcasting. The award recognises achievements in balanced reporting on the Middle East.[3]
